Packed executable terminates the show as soon as an external hyperlink/program/web page is launched.
This situation will occur if the user has packed the archive with HIGH security. Under High security any external program launched will be treated by secure pack as an indication to terminate the show.
VBA modules and routines do not execute when the packed archive is launched on an machine with PowerPoint 2000 installed.
This is a bug within PowerPoint 2000 (Q256579). The only resolution in this case is to inform the user that he needs to set his macro security settings (Tools | Macros | Security) to LOW. This behavior is not seen in PowerPoint 97/XP.
Can I create a CD-ROM to distribute the executable?
Yes, simply copy the packed archive and the AUTORUN.INF file into the root folder of the CD-ROM.
Whenever I launch the
Secure Pack archive with the /edit switch, I get the message 'You do not have necessary rights to edit this archive', what does this mean?
This message indicates that the user has packed the archive with a 'No editing allowed' option. Hence
Secure Pack does not permit you to extract the contents of the archive.
My user executed the show many times. But now whenever they click the archive exe, they are prompted with the 'Extract contents' dialog. What does this indicate?
If the user (creator) has set the show to run a limited number of times and also set an enable edit flag while packing, then the 'Extract contents' dialog will show automatically after the prescribed number of runs have completed. For your user to extract the contents of the archive, please contact the creator who packed the original presentations for the password.
I found a URL added to my Favorites. How did this come about?
Secure Pack allows a user to create/distribute royalty free executables. When the executable is launched a link to the website is added to the users favourite list. This only happens with a exe created using the trial version of the product. It does not happen with the shows packed using the retail version of
Pack archives packed with trial version display a splash screen at the beginning and end of the show. Will this is shown even in the retail version?
No, splash screens (3 second delay) and end screen
(version 1.x) are displayed only in the archives packed with the trial version. The retail version on

I want to pack the presentations such that when the user clicks on my homepage hyperlink the show should terminate and take the user viewing the show to my homepage. Can this be done?
Yes, it can be provided there are external hyperlinks only on the last slide of the show. Create the hyperlinks on the last slide and pack the archive using HIGH security mode. This will cause the show to end as soon as the user clicks on your homepage link.
The slide show stops after the hyperlinked presentation ends. How do I resolve this?
When you run a slide show (the main presentation) that contains a hyperlink to another presentation, the slide show may stop after the hyperlinked presentation ends. This is a bug in PowerPoint 97 (Q167902). This problem has been corrected in PowerPoint 97 SR-1 (Service Release 1). You can correct this problem by downloading and installing the Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 Patch.
For additional information about SR-1, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: Q172475 OFF97: How to Obtain and Install MS Office 97 SR-1
Does Secure Pack handle password protected XP files?
No. All passwords must be cleared before the files are packed. This is applicable to all the linked presentation files which will be packed within the archive too. This is due to the following reasons:
(a) The password protected files are not compatible with earlier version of PowerPoint.
(b) The PowerPoint XP object model prevents direct access via VBA.
Secure Pack include the program files linked in the presentations?
No. Some of the program files may have copyright restriction which would be infringed if we do so. If you still wish to include them embed them into the presentation.
Secure Pack include ActiveX controls used in the presentations?
No. ActiveX controls are often bound by distribution licenses and other dependency files which have copyright restrictions imposed on them.
Cannot delete the packed show after the show is run without a reboot. How do I resolve this?
This problem occurs only on some machines if the show is packed with MEDIUM security. This bug has been resolved in the download available.
